IFTAR AT DAR AMIR ORPHANAGE

On September 3, 2009, the first iftar program of ACT Malaysia for this year was implemented in Dar Amir Orphanage, Kakar, Cotabato City Philippines. 38 orphans and their teachers were provided with iftar and sahoor.

Dar Amir is among the orphanages that ACT Malaysia surveyed in June, 2009. It accomodates 54 orphans except during the month of Ramadan when some orphans spend the fasting month with relatives.

· Proper beds for female orphans

· Running water

· Water purification device

· Proper kitchen and mess hall

· Books, clothes

· Proper salary for teachers (ave.monthly RM 140)

· Flood solutions (e.g. improve rooftop cottages)

· Closets, storage

· Balanced education

· Nutritious food
