IFTAR at MARKAZ IBN TAYMIYAH orphanage

On 16th of September 2009, 32 orphans were provided with iftar and suhoor at Markaz Ibn Taymiyah (also known as Darul Hanan) located at Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

Markaz Ibn Taymiyah was among those surveyed by ACT Malaysia on June 2009. It shelters 54 orphans, except Ramadan when some of them return to their relatives). The orphanage is funded by Idaratul Muslimin, Riyadh. But like most of the orphanages in Mindanao, the funds are barely enough to provide all the needs of the orphans. The survey identified their most important needs as follows.

• Proper beds (with mattresses)
• Running water
• Water purification device
• Proper kitchen and mess hall
• Toiletries, School supplies
• Minimum salary for teachers
• Closets, storage
• Balanced education
• Nutritious food
